Terry McMillan Saddened By Smith Children.

terry mcmillan mien

Author Terry McMillan voiced her displeasure with Will & Jada Smith‘s children – Jaden & Willow–  earlier today on twitter. She feels as though they are more wrapped up in fame & stardom, as opposed to being well rounded, disciplined children who are focused on their school work. Here’s what Ms. McMillan had to tweet:

The Smith children already act like child stars. There’s an arrogance in their demeanor and behavior. I find it incredibly sad. It feels like the Smith children are being pimped and exploited. Or, they’re already hungry for fame. What about 4th grade?

A lot of A-list movie stars shielded their children from the Hollywood-world until they were old enough to decide. Look at those who didn’t. Look at Lindsay. Phoenix. To name but a few. They miss out on childhood. It’s more important than fame.

These kids don’t already know what they “love”. Total bullshit. They’re not prodigies. They think Hollywood is real.

Why don’t they do a remake of The Little Rascals and call it a day? Or, come up with an original film with some ethnic pride. Come on.

Okay. I’ve said enough about the Smith children. I’m not debating about them. It’s just my opinion. People can justify anything, though.

In 4th grade my son came home complaining that the kids in his school said I was famous and rich. I told him that was not true. That some of my books were popular but not everybody liked them. That we could afford a vacation. “Oh” he said, and went back & repeated it. I wanted him to think of me as his mother. He didn’t read any of my novels until he was 15. He only read 26 pages. Was bored.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everybody. I raised my son. I’m not wasting another minute worrying about how Will & Jada are raising their kids.

P.S. I loved the Karate Kid.

John Travolta Gay!!???

Oh My GAWD! Oh My LAWD! I have NO PROBLEM with gay folks, but all this outing of the gays by others is what I have a problem with. It appears as though Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher has outed veteran actor John Travolta! It is said that John’s strange behavior- such as leaving wife behind right before Christmas to go on an all male vacation- has led to his wife, Kelly Preston, begging him to come clean about his true sexual identity. She thought having the new baby would bring them closer, but obviously not.

Check out what Joy Behar of the VIEW had to say about it on her show. (smh)

“Ewan McGregor Is A GREAT Kisser,” Says Jim Carrey.

Jim Carrey says the kissing scenes in his latest film, I Love You Phillip Morris, had at least one important thing going for them: Major chemistry.  “I mean, look at the guy. I have to say, he is a great kisser,” Jim says of his smooches with costar Ewan McGregor. That’s not to say Carrey – who plays an incarcerated man who falls in love with a fellow inmate – wasn’t warned about potential problems with kissing a man.  “As Ewan said, ‘When you’re kissing another guy it can get a little prickly,'” Carrey explains. “Actually, you had to put out of your mind your own sexual preference and just try to understand that you were loving another person who just happens to be a guy. It wasn’t about male or female, love is love.”

Corey Haim Laid To Rest.

Corey Haim Remembered at Family Funeral in Toronto | Corey Haim

About 200 close friends and family filled the Steeles College Memorial Chapel in Thornhill, Ontario on Tuesday to remember Corey Haim, who died last week in Burbank, Calif.

“There were no Hollywood types there, just friends and family,” a source tells PEOPLE. “It was invite only and very strict about entry. People came without invites and were turned away. The streets for blocks around the chapel were full of police guiding traffic. It was sad. The family is devastated.”

Fans stood quietly outside on the chapel lawn during the 45-minute service, which took place in the late morning, the Toronto Star reports.

“I’ve loved him since I was 13. I’ve never done anything like this before, but when I found out he died, I was very sad,” mourner Jennifer Matton told the paper.

Haim’s longtime friend Corey Feldman did not attend the funeral out of respect for Haim’s mother, Judy, who is suffering from cancer.

“Due to their strong religious beliefs, and need for privacy, the family has decided to make Corey’s funeral on Tuesday a small, private affair,” the actor said Monday.

The 38-year-old Haim rose to fame as a teen heartthrob in such ’80s films as License to Drive and The Lost Boys. Despite a promising start, Haim descended into drug addiction, which he struggled with until the end of his life.

On Tuesday the Los Angeles Fire Department released the 911 call Haim’s distraught mother made the morning of his death. She can be heard trying to revive her son, who’d been suffering with a fever in the days before his untimely death.

“Corey Died BROKE & ALONE” Says Corey Feldman.

Corey Haim Died Broke & Alone, Says Corey Feldman

While Corey Feldman appreciates the outpouring of support over the tragic death of his longtime friend Corey Haim at 38, he’s also “very troubled” as he wonders where the support was during Haim’s life.

Feldman, who appeared on Larry King Live Wednesday night, said Haim was “very destitute, very broke,” had no car and few friends.

“At the end of the day, Larry, where were all these people the last 10 years, the last 15 years of Corey’s life?” asked Feldman, also 38. “Where were all these people to lend a hand out, to reach out to him and say, you know, you’re a legend, you’re – you’re an amazingly talented, wonderful person who’s really never gone out of his way to hurt anybody other than himself?”

Feldman also said Haim was recently seeing a new treatment specialist who put him on a new line of medications. Feldman did not specify which they were, but said, “Let’s just say that they may not have corresponded properly with the medications that he was currently taking.”

However, Feldman had noticed a marked shift in his friend since his mother, with whom Haim was living in a month-to-month rental property, was diagnosed with cancer. “He shaped up. He got his act together,” Feldman said. “When his mom got ill, it was the first time I ever saw Corey grow up.”

Feldman said “a sizeable memorial” will be planned for Haim – which he hopes will be well-attended. “You see these people making great statements and that’s wonderful and I hope they’re all there for the memorial and I hope they’re all there for the funeral. But where were they during his life?”

Corey Haim Cause Of Death; Pulmonary Congestion.

Mom: Autopsy Finds Corey Haim Suffered Pulmonary Congestion

The official autopsy results for Corey Haim have not been released publicly, but his mother says the coroner called her to disclose the actor suffered pulmonary congestion.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Judy Haim says an autopsy also found he had an enlarged heart along with the water in the lungs.

What role those factors played, if any, in Haim’s death isn’t known. L.A. Coroner Chief Craig Harvey confirms that the autopsy was completed at 11 a.m. Thursday, but notes, “There is no final cause of death at this time.”

“The final cause of death has been deferred pending additional tests that have been ordered,” he says.

Shortly before his death Wednesday at age 38, Haim complained of flu-like symptoms and had a high fever. His former fiancée, Tiffany Shepis, also tells PEOPLE the actor had long suffered from heart problems.

“Every time he would go to a doctor they’d tell him he had really bad arrhythmia, probably due to clogged arteries,” she says. “They all said he should have it taken care of. But, being from Canada, his insurance was there, so he never went and got it done.”

Shepis, who was engaged to Haim briefly between 2008 and 2009, says he also struggled with addiction. “His problem was with prescription drugs – painkillers and Valium,” she says. “His addictions are common knowledge. And the longer [you] are addicted to something, the harder it is for you to quit. And that’s what he was facing.”

Corey Haim, Dead At 38.

Corey Haim Michael Bezjian/Getty Images

1980s teen heartthrob- Corey Haim– died early Wednesday morning, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. He was 38.

The Lost Boys star is believed to have died of an accidental drug overdose. He was unresponsive when discovered in his apartment in L.A.’s San Fernando Valley. He was taken to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in nearby Burbank, where he was pronounced dead around 3 a.m.

His body has been transported to the county coroner’s and is currently on a “security hold”—meaning no information can be released—pending an autospy.

The Canadian-born actor, one-half of “The Coreys” along with Corey Feldman, had a history of battling drug addiction throughout his career.

In addition to his famous friendship, Haim made his debut feature-film appearance in 1984 opposite Sarah Jessica Parker and Robert Downey Jr. in Firstborn. His breakthrough role came two years later with Lucas, alongside Charlie Sheen and Winona Ryder. Gigs in Lost Boys, License to Drive and Dream a Little Dream soon followed, as did countless teen magazine covers.

Following his heyday in the 1980s, Haim acted steadily, although most of his work wound up heading straight to video. He and Feldman attempted a comeback in 2007 with the short-lived A&E reality series The Two Coreys.

Corey Haim’s Final Moments.

Corey Haim's Final Moments: Dizzy, Stumbling with Flu Symptoms

Corey Haim had been suffering from flu-like symptoms for several days before finally stumbling in front of his mother at her Los Angeles apartment early this morning, a coroner spokesman confirms.

“Some time after midnight, he got up, he was dizzy and unsteady on his feet and knelt down,” L.A. County Coroner Assistant Chief Ed Winter tells PEOPLE. “His mom helped him to a bed and he became unresponsive in about a minute or so. She dialed 911 and he was pronounced dead at a local hospital at 2:15 a.m.”

The death of the former ’80s heartthrob at age 38 has been ruled inconclusive pending an autopsy and toxicology test. But Winter says, “LAPD believes it was a possible drug overdose.”

Haim had been living with her mother as she battled cancer, Judy Haim tells RadarOnline. “I am a cancer victim and Corey was helping me at home,” she said. “He was a good boy. I’m devastated by his death.”

A neighbor, Eric Jay, says that Haim had been caring for his mother and was a regular fixture around the apartment complex. “It was a real shame. His mom was sick and he was talking care of her.”

Jay adds that Haim seemed to be on an upswing in life. “I saw him a few days ago with [his] mom by the pool,” he says. “He was humble but inspirational to the actors around here. He was getting himself together.”

Winter confirms that four prescription medication bottles were found in the home in Corey Haim’s name. Winter wouldn’t verify what drugs they were, though he says no illegal drugs were found.

Haim’s mother told investigators that her son “had problems with prescription meds and that he had been in rehab on and off over the years,” Winter says.

The Academy Awards row over a perceived snub to Farrah Fawcett showed no sign of abating late Tuesday, with an Oscars chief defending the decision to omit the late “Charlie’s Angels” star from the gala’s In Memoriam segment.

The executive director of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, Bruce Davis, said it was a difficult decision for the committee that assembles the segment to omit Fawcett and he was not surprised that fans and family members are upset.

Davis told the Associated Press his colleagues thought Fawcett was best known for her “remarkable television work” and would be more appropriately honored by at the Emmy Awards

On Tuesday afternoon Ryan O’Neal told Radar Online that the Academy should “speak and explain their decision”.

The entertainment website reported that the Academy had to whittle more than 100 names down to about 30, with Fawcett not making the cut.

Farrah had been a member of the academy since 1979 and was even a presenter one year.

E! Online also questioned Fawcett’s omission Tuesday – while noting that Michael Jackson, who has a far skimper film resume than the actress, made it.

TMZ also went in to bat for the actress – headlining its report of Davis’ explanation for the decision as “The Oscars Produce BS Farrah Fawcett Excuse”.

A poll on the website asking if the “Oscars excuse” was ‘BS’ (bullshit) or ‘makes sense’ had more than 21,000 voters, with 93 per cent of those backing TMZ’s take on the ommission.

For the record Fawcett’s film background included 19 movies, leading to nominations for a Golden Globe (“Extremities”) and Spirt Award (“The Apostle”).

“Indeed, Bea Arthur and Ed McMahon, like Fawcett better remembered for their TV work than their movie roles, were also overlooked during the segment, which also included nods to Patrick Swayze, Brittany Murphy, Jean Simmons and Karl Malden,” E! Online reported.
