Terry McMillan Saddened By Smith Children.

Author Terry McMillan voiced her displeasure with Will & Jada Smith‘s children – Jaden & Willow–  earlier today on twitter. She feels as though they are more wrapped up in fame & stardom, as opposed to being well rounded, disciplined children who are focused on their school work. Here’s what Ms. McMillan had to tweet:

The Smith children already act like child stars. There’s an arrogance in their demeanor and behavior. I find it incredibly sad. It feels like the Smith children are being pimped and exploited. Or, they’re already hungry for fame. What about 4th grade?

A lot of A-list movie stars shielded their children from the Hollywood-world until they were old enough to decide. Look at those who didn’t. Look at Lindsay. Phoenix. To name but a few. They miss out on childhood. It’s more important than fame.

These kids don’t already know what they “love”. Total bullshit. They’re not prodigies. They think Hollywood is real.

Why don’t they do a remake of The Little Rascals and call it a day? Or, come up with an original film with some ethnic pride. Come on.

Okay. I’ve said enough about the Smith children. I’m not debating about them. It’s just my opinion. People can justify anything, though.

In 4th grade my son came home complaining that the kids in his school said I was famous and rich. I told him that was not true. That some of my books were popular but not everybody liked them. That we could afford a vacation. “Oh” he said, and went back & repeated it. I wanted him to think of me as his mother. He didn’t read any of my novels until he was 15. He only read 26 pages. Was bored.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everybody. I raised my son. I’m not wasting another minute worrying about how Will & Jada are raising their kids.

P.S. I loved the Karate Kid.

  1. I must say that i agree with her.

  2. Totally agree as well.

  3. who really knows what those kids are getting or really feel, perhaps they are really happy and being raised right.

as long as they are not being abused, mistreated and unloved then guess everything else is all good (in a positive manner of course) let them do them. be happy that their living their lives, both their parents are big stars so its not a situation were their parents are living lvicariously through them…i figure the sooner the better (imo) oppose to becoming a breakout star at 35 or 45+

some people wait all their lives to live their dreams, many others dont get to at all
not all child stars turn out bad, so lets just wish them well and hope for the rest.

  4. Willow herself said she misses alot of school and work etc and falls behind..and that’s with home school..umm she’s 10 for goodness sake..she needs sum kinda education..so she can read above a what 4th grade level?!..her life is not gonna get anything but busier..I wish her the best..but she def needs an education..so does her brother.

  5. all i got to say is….GO WIL-LO!

being famouse takes hardwork, sweat and some sacrifices, they both seem smart
i sure dont knwo to many other kids her age that can deliver a infectious song the way she did. People 2 and 3 x’s her age cant even do it that well. They will be just fine and hope they do even better than what others is expecting, cause its almost like some people are secretly wishing that they fail or something.

as long as their not being abused, illiterate and mistreated or the likes, nothing else is my concern

  6. So ur main concern is that she can deliver a song well rather than having an education to fall back on in case she does fail?!..wow..smh..if I had children..of course I’d support their dreams etc..but they would def be getting educated while doing so!..no excuses!..smh..
