She was a Hollywood original to the end. Elizabeth Taylor was laid to rest Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif., in a small, private funeral attended by friends and family that began 15 minutes after schedule – under instructions she left. “She even wanted to be late for her own funeral,” a family rep said in a statement.
Taylor’s casket was closed and draped with gardenias, violets, and lily of the valley. She was interred in The Great Mausoleum, the same resting place for her longtime friend Michael Jackson.
The one-hour, multi-denominational service officated by Rabbi Jerry Cutler included a reading by actor Colin Farrell, a friend of Taylor’s, of Gerard Manley Hopkins’ poem “The Leaden Echo and the Golden Echo.” Taylor’s son Michael Wilding, her daughter Liza Burton Tivey and her grandson Tarquin Wilding also read selections, and her grandson Rhys Tivey performed a trumpet solo of “Amazing Grace.”
The acting legend paased Wednesday at the age of 79. She is survived by four children and 10 grandchildren. A public service in her honor is expected to he held at a later date.

Elizabeth Taylor, the Hollywood icon and Oscar-winner who was practically born in the spotlight, has died. She was 79.
“She was surrounded by her children – Michael Wilding, Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd and Maria Burton,” Taylor’s publicist, Sally Morrison, said in a statement. In addition to her children, Taylor is survived by 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
On Feb. 11, it was announced that she had been in taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles earlier that week for symptoms caused by congestive heart failure, and around 1:30 a.m. she “peacefully died there,” according to her publicist. “Though she had recently suffered a number of complications, her condition had stabilized and it was hoped that she would be able to return home. Sadly, this was not to be.”
A stunning beauty with mesmerizing violet eyes and a double set of eyelashes, Taylor was catapulted to superstardom as a child, though she lived larger than life both on screen and off even long after she had retired from movies and became a perfume mogul.
Among the very last of MGM’s stable of stars groomed for a life before the public, Taylor helped define the term “Jet Set” in the ’60s, just as her charitable works, starting in the ’80s, often outshone her remarkable jewelry collection.
For Elizabeth Taylor, nothing was ordinary – including her medical battles.
For the past several years she had suffered ill health, though to the very end she was a tireless advocate for AIDS research.
In 1993, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, in recognition of her charity work, presented Taylor with its Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
Born in Hampstead, England, the second child of Francis Taylor, an American art gallery owner working abroad, and his wife Sara Sothern, who was a former actress, Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor moved with her family to Los Angeles before the start of World War II.
Her movie debut was in 1942’s There’s One Born Every Minute, and she appeared with lifelong friend Roddy McDowall in 1943’s Lassie Come Home. But it was 1944’s National Velvet that brought her stardom – at age 12.
Her more notable pictures as an adult included Father of the Bride, A Place in the Sun, Giant, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and two for which she won Best Actress Oscars: Butterfield 8 and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?.
With 1963’s Cleopatra, the dark beauty with the violet eyes became the first Hollywood star to earn a $1 million salary.
The $46 million spectacle, though dismissed by critics, also teamed her with the actor who would become her 4th and 5th husband: Richard Burton.
The beauty was not only known for her string of movie roles and generous charitable contributions: Her storied personal life, which included eight marriages and seven husbands, added to Taylor’s status as a true Hollywood legend.
Her other husbands (before Burton) were hotel heir Conrad “Nicky” Hilton, actor Michael Wilding, producer Michael Todd, singer Eddie Fisher and (after Burton) U.S. Senator John Warner and construction worker Larry Fortensky.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation. Details of a memorial service will be announced at a later date.

A huge development in the Dr. Conrad Murray trial involving the death of Michael Jackson … the defense wants a first generation fingerprint of a broken syringe found in MJ’s bedroom the day he died … and our sources say they think it could prove that Michael killed himself.
Dr. Murray’s lawyers were in court this AM. Among other things, they lasered in on a broken syringe that had rolled under Michael’s deathbed. The defense wants a first generation fingerprint to determine who was handling it.
Defense sources tell us … Dr. Murray insists he did not break the syringe. As TMZ first reported … the defense believes MJ caused his own death by giving himself a massive overdose of Propofol while Murray was out of the room.
Defense sources say … there were only two people in the room, and since Murray did not break the syringe, Michael must have handled it.
The defense is asking that the FBI deliver the first generation fingerprint.

A student at Oprah‘s South African school is being questioned after the body of a newborn baby was found in the 17-year-old’s bag. The infant boy was discovered in the Leadership Academy for Girls student’s bag on Wednesday at a hospital where she was being treated for excessive bleeding, ABC News reported. Police suspect the unidentified girl gave birth at Winfrey’s school and a case of concealment of death is being investigated.
According to CNN, police have not yet determined if the infant died of natural causes or if he was killed, but an autopsy is under way. No charges have been filed.
Police Capt. Shado Mashobane confirmed to local publications that the girl is still recovering in the hospital. A spokesperson for Winfrey’s school told ABC it would not comment on the incident because of the involvement of a minor.

Michael Jackson was so worried he couldn’t perform his London concerts in 2009 … he wondered out loud if he would end up working behind the counter at McDonald’s. WHAT!!??? Karen Faye– Michael’s hairstylist for a quarter century – was interviewed by LAPD detectives days after MJ died, and TMZ has learned what she said to police.
Faye told cops, “He was scared to death because AEG was funding everything. He said he would have to work at McDonalds if he didn’t do these shows.” Faye also told investigators she believed Michael was “self-sabotaging” with drugs because he couldn’t do all 50 shows. Faye said she believed Michael needed psychological help because he was losing so much weight- adding, “I thought he was under the influence of something.”
Faye says Michael’s assistant told her MJ was seeing Dr. Arnold Klein 3 to 4 times a week and was exhibiting signs of drug use. Days before Michael died, when MJ seemed to be more lucid, she asked Michael’s manager if he knew why Michael had taken a turn for the better. His response, according to Faye — “‘Cause Klein is out of town.”

R&B veteran Bobby Brown is currently morning the lost of his mother, Carole Brown, who passed away Thursday (Jan 20) in Los Angeles at 69 years-old.
Dealing with the lost, Brown has vowed to commit his life to celebrate the lost of his biggest supporter.
“It is a sad time for me right now. I am experiencing a tremendous loss but I vow to celebrate her life in every way that I can with my entire family, including my fiancé Alicia, and my children Bobbi Kristina, LaPrincia, Bobby Jr and Cassius,” says Brown in a statement.
