Chris Brown to Rihanna : Shut your mouth

Chris Brown doesn’t seem to care that Rihanna called him “her best friend and That  Rihanna misses him  he actually wishes Rihanna would shut her mouth.

“Chris is just confused about Rihanna’s decision to bring up the past again and again — this time in an interview with Oprah,” a source tells Radar. “Rihanna has previously given wide-ranging interviews about the beating to Diane Sawyer and several print magazines. Chris just doesn’t think it’s productive or relevant to rehash the events since essentially nothing new is being revealed in the interview Rihanna has done with Oprah. Chris doesn’t begrudge Rihanna at all for talking about it but he thinks that in order for them to both move forward and not be defined by that one night, it would be better to stop bringing it up.”

Rihanna’s interview airs on Oprah’s Next Chapter this Sunday at 9 pm on OWN.

Samuel Jackson Blasts Oscars For Ignoring Black Men.

Samuel L Jackson, Actor: 'There's been a warrior culture here. It's time that ended'

Another HARSH criticism of the Academy Awards … this time from Samuel L. Jackson . .. who’s pretty damn upset that there weren’t more black actors involved in the show. Jackson was in L.A. yesterday, where he told a photog, “Where were the black actors?” He continued, “I guess they didn’t think we were available to read teleprompters that night … not a big deal, hopefully it’ll get better … it wont happen again.” Jackson added, “We work in town … they know who we are, they know we’re available to be on that show to represent the people of color who are in the business in town.”

For the record, there were no black male presenters during the show — to which Jackson stated, “Hopefully they wont make that mistake again.”

Whoopi Goldberg Dissed By New York Times?

When Whoopi Goldberg caught sight of an recent New York Times article discussing the lack of racial diversity among this year’s Academy Award nominees, she naturally expected to see her own name.

But Goldberg, 55, who won an Oscar for her role in 1990’s Ghost, wasn’t mentioned at all in the story – and that smarted.

“I am embarrassed to tell you it hurt me terribly,” Goldberg said on the View Monday. “When you win an Academy Award, that’s part of what you’ve done, your legacy. I will always be Academy Award-winner Whoopi Goldberg, and [I] have been dismissed and erased by the New York Times film critics, who should know better.”

Goldberg went on to list her accomplishments before blasting the critics for “sloppy” work. The article did, however, reference a slew of modern day African American winners, including Halle Berry, Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman, all of whom won the award after 2002.

“Not only am I an Academy Award winner,” she said, pausing to take out her statuette as the audience erupted in cheers and applause. “I have made over 50 films. I have been nominated twice – once for The Color Purple, once for Ghost. And I won for Ghost.”

“This is not hidden information, and to these two critics, who are the head critics of the New York Times … it’s hard not to take it personally,” she continued. “There’s a lot of stuff that people say and do but this is sloppy journalism.”

“People in Somalia know [about my Oscar win],” she continued. “People in China know.”

Later on Monday, a spokesperson for the Times responded to Goldberg’s rant in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. “The error lies with those who are reading the story incorrectly,” the statement reads. “The point of the piece was not to name every black actor or actress who has been awarded an Oscar, it was to draw a comparison between the number who won prior to 2002 (the year Halle Berry and Denzel Washington won) and those who have won since.”

Continues the statement: “And the story states very clearly that in 73 years, prior to 2002, only seven black actors/actresses won Oscars.”

The Academy Awards row over a perceived snub to Farrah Fawcett showed no sign of abating late Tuesday, with an Oscars chief defending the decision to omit the late “Charlie’s Angels” star from the gala’s In Memoriam segment.

The executive director of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, Bruce Davis, said it was a difficult decision for the committee that assembles the segment to omit Fawcett and he was not surprised that fans and family members are upset.

Davis told the Associated Press his colleagues thought Fawcett was best known for her “remarkable television work” and would be more appropriately honored by at the Emmy Awards

On Tuesday afternoon Ryan O’Neal told Radar Online that the Academy should “speak and explain their decision”.

The entertainment website reported that the Academy had to whittle more than 100 names down to about 30, with Fawcett not making the cut.

Farrah had been a member of the academy since 1979 and was even a presenter one year.

E! Online also questioned Fawcett’s omission Tuesday – while noting that Michael Jackson, who has a far skimper film resume than the actress, made it.

TMZ also went in to bat for the actress – headlining its report of Davis’ explanation for the decision as “The Oscars Produce BS Farrah Fawcett Excuse”.

A poll on the website asking if the “Oscars excuse” was ‘BS’ (bullshit) or ‘makes sense’ had more than 21,000 voters, with 93 per cent of those backing TMZ’s take on the ommission.

For the record Fawcett’s film background included 19 movies, leading to nominations for a Golden Globe (“Extremities”) and Spirt Award (“The Apostle”).

“Indeed, Bea Arthur and Ed McMahon, like Fawcett better remembered for their TV work than their movie roles, were also overlooked during the segment, which also included nods to Patrick Swayze, Brittany Murphy, Jean Simmons and Karl Malden,” E! Online reported.
