Al & Tipper Gore Splitting After 40 Years.

Al Gore and Tipper Gore have announced, via an e-mail to friends, that they are getting separated after 40 years together.

Al Gore and wife, Tipper, are calling it quits. The former Vice President and his spouse have announced, via an e-mail to friends, that they are separating after 40 years of marriage.  “We are announcing today that after a great deal of thought and discussion, we have decided to separate,” stated the e-mail, which was obtained by Politico.com  “This is very much a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration. We ask for respect for our privacy and that of our family, and we do not intend to comment further.”  Gore spokeswoman Kalee Kreider confirmed the statement came from the Gores, The Associated Press reports, but declined to comment further.

Al Gore has become an advocate for environmental issue since losing his bid for President in 2000. Tipper Gore is known for her advocacy on mental health issues.

Ted Koppel’s Son Found Dead After Fatal Alcohol Binge.

TV newsman Ted Koppel‘s 40-year-old son Andrew has died, reportedly after a daylong drinking binge in New York City.  Andrew Koppel, an attorney for the city’s Housing Authority, was found unconscious and not breathing in an apartment in Washington Heights in the early hours Monday morning, the New York Post reports.  A spokesperson for the NYPD says: “Someone called 911. A guy he was with. The call came in at 1:40 a.m. that he was unconscious. He didn’t respond, and he was pronounced dead.”


According to reports, Koppel, who lived in Queens with his girlfriend and baby daughter, began drinking around noon at a bar in Hell’s Kitchen, where he befriended a stranger, Russell Wimberly, a 32-year-old waiter.  The pair drank all day – Koppel drinking straight whiskey – and arrived together at the Washington Heights apartment around 11 p.m. After Koppel complained of not feeling well, Wimberly and a roommate, Belinda Caban, put him to bed.They later discovered he wasn’t breathing and called 911.  The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

Andrew was the third of Ted Koppel’s four children with his wife, Grace Anne.  He had three sisters.

Bill Maher Wants A “REAL” Black President.

Big Mouth Bill Maher is talking Sh#t again, as he suggests our POTUS- Barack Obama– isn’t “Gangsta” enough. Not BLACK enough. I don’t have a lot to say about this, except the fact that folks are taking too many liberties where black folks are concerned. People did not speak this blatantly disrespectful about former Pres. LaLa & Carmelo Moving Forward w/Wedding Plans.

Carmelo Anthony is letting LaLa Vazquez handle most details of their wedding planning – except for a few key elements.  “I just care about the food and the music, that’s it,” the NBA star told PEOPLE Saturday while celebrating his 26th birthday with his fiancée at Philippe in West Hollywood.  While he has yet to choose specific songs, the Denver Nuggets forward wants “some great music for dancing,” and is also requesting red velvet cake – part of a larger color scheme he has in mind.  “We don’t really have a theme yet,” says former MTV veejay Vazquez, “but Melo is just certain that he wants red.”

Helping with the rest is wedding planner Mindy Weiss, who “does everything and makes it so easy,” says Vazquez, 30. “[It’s] like no pressure whatsoever.” The actress has picked out a Vera Wang gown and is working out with celeb trainer Gunnar Peterson “every single day” for the nuptials, set for July 10 in New York City.

Asked what will make their wedding special, Vazquez says it’s simply about celebrating with loved ones. “What it means to us [is] having that one day to just be together and have a good time,” she says. “It’s not often you can get his family and my family and all of our close friends together in one room, so I’m excited about that.”  She adds: “And I just think we’re fun people, so the vibe is going to be fun.”

Ricky Martin ‘OUT’ In NYC.

Ricky Martin will make his first big public appearance since coming out at the AmFAR Black Tie/Black Leather-themed Inspiration gala Thursday at the New York Public Library. Martin will be honored for his philanthropic work with children through his Ricky Martin Foundation, and Jean-Paul Gaultier will be honored for his impact on men’s fashion. Cyndi Lauper will perform for guests, in cluding host Kylie Minogue and guest deejay Estelle, who will release her new single during the event’s runway show.
