A hulking psycho who stabbed an 8-year-old boy at a Dave & Buster’s in Long Island had attacked him at random when he plunged a knife into his back six times while the child played a video game, authorities said.
Evan Sachs, a 23-year-old movie-theater usher, went to the Westbury arcade on Friday for the express purpose of finding somebody to kill — and even wrote out a note detailing his blood lust, prosecutors say.
“The note states what his intentions were that evening — to harm somebody,” Assistant District Attorney Daniel Looney said
The boy, his sister and their parents were enjoying a family night out. The boy was just 20 feet away from his mother when Sachs struck, police said.
The boy initially thought he was only getting tapped on the back as Sachs stabbed him.
“Somebody put their hand on my shoulder and was tapping my back,” he told his mom before collapsing in a pool of blood, according to Lt. Kevin Smith of the Nassau County Police Department.
The “tapping” was five quick stabs from Sachs’ 3½-inch hunting knife, police said.
After the boy collapsed, a witness pointed out Sachs to the victim’s father, Lt. Smith said. The father and the witness caught up to Sachs as he headed to a bathroom, according to Lt. Smith.
Sachs didn’t resist as the father and witness held him down and waited for the cops.
His bloodied shirt taken as evidence, Sachs wore a hospital gown at his arraignment in Hempstead court yesterday. He pleaded not guilty.
The victim, who has not been identified, underwent surgery for a punctured lung at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola. He is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
Sachs, who is being held without bail, was charged with attempted murder in the second degree, first-degree assault, and possession of a dangerous weapon.
He has repeatedly confessed to the crime, law-enforcement sources said.
In a written statement to police, Sachs allegedly wrote that he had “intention to kill,” the source said.
Sachs’ family asked that he be placed on suicide watch.
