Malik Yoba offensive tweet

Remember when Malik Yoba was the sexiest black man on tv according to a lot of females? until the rumors started swirling that he was Gay

Anyway Malik usually keeps a low profile and is known throughout the game to be a very positive well-respected dude. Well mr Yoba lost his cool

The Story Via Sandra Rose

This is why I don’t place celebrities on pedestals. Many celebrities seek the limelight because they have narcissistic tendencies. But a lot of them have deep-seated issues with women stemming from unhealthy relationships with their mothers.

Men like Malik Yoba often quote scriptures on Twitter, as if they are role models of good character. But every now and then his male chauvinistic side is exposed on social media.

Lil’ Kim & Mary J. Blige -vs- Nicki Minaj & Keyshia Cole?

“I think this other bitch got a song with Keyshia Cole, right? Coming at me and the mothafuckin’ other queen, Mary J. Blige. Me and my girl Mary J. Blige about to eat these bitches alive where they won’t even fucking exist no more and erase their fucking social security number! We gon’ remind them who the fuck we are! I’m not playing with this bitch for 2011. I’m saying, we can rock together but bitch you ain’t taking nothing from me!”- Lil Kim on Nicki Minaj & Keyshia Cole.

As a Brooklynite, I’ve been riding with Lil Kim since day-1. And I was in full support of her views & position in the Nicki Minaj vendetta. However, here is where I have to draw the line. When the issue was between just her & Nicki, I had no problem with it. But now, not only have they both included Foxy Brown in this quagmire, Keyshia Cole & Mary J. Blige are now contestants on this B.S. game show as well. And this is what I’m not appreciating: adding others to your mess. Keyshia is probably clueless as to what is going on & I doubt Mary really wants to participate in these reindeer games. She has grown & matured & ain’t trying to revert to her former ways, especially when the beef has nothing to do with her. (smh)

We’ll wait & see.

The 2010 MTV-VMA’s: A Total FLOP!

Last night was a DUDD! The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards had to be by far the WORST show in years! Completely uneventful. Don’t get me wrong, there were some decent performances, but that about it- just decent- AT BEST!  Kicking off the show was a moving performance by Eminem featuring Rihanna, followed by a rousing performance “tribute” to Lady Gaga, by insane hostess for the night Chelsea Handler. But I felt as though as the show progressed, Chelsea lost her steam & was just not the rip-roaring comic relief we’d expect her to be. Oh well, moving on. There was a cutsie wootsie performance from kid sensation Justin Bieber. Futuristic performance by Usher, who just seemed outta breath & sweating like a crack head on the first of the month. Poor Usher, I Remember the days when he could do it all! For the first time tonight I got a look at a group called Florence & The Machine performed with a full stage set & all, a choir & dancers. They were eclectic & entertaining. Travis McCoy came through with what started out as a raw, honest performance, but was cut short for a N.E.R.D ft. Ciara performance.

Now here we go. Taylor Swift‘s did a joint called “Speak Now,”  which was all about her understanding & analyzing & forgiving the confused mess which she perceived to be Kanye West! Didn’t appreciate it at all. Folks say Kanye used his two hour twitter apology for his own personal album promotion Saturday before last. However, it seemed to me that Taylor used her “Forgiveness” to elevate this otherwise lackluster performance.  Oh well, On To The Next One!  Mary J. Blige had it on SMASH when she accompanied Drake & a fake piano playing Swizz Beats for “You Fancy Huh.” B.O.B, bouncin’ on the stage like he had a roach infestation to kill. And Jason Derulo sang a song.  Linkin Park performed some high energy madness. They’re an interesting bunch.

As far as awards are concerned, the big WINNER of the night was Lady Gaga, who is an EXCEPTIONAL talent! This time last year she made me nervous. Today, I NEED her in my life. Gaga won BIG but it was DEFINITELY Kanye West’s night. He, along w/Pusha T of the Clipse, performed a track from his upcoming CD called ‘Runaway.” Kanye did what he had to do & left it all right there on the stage. By far Ye was the BEST performance of the night. Too bad we had to sit through 2.5 hrs. of CRAP before we’d see it!

100 Most POWERFUL Sistas On Twitter.

In a time when Black Women are NOT looked upon favorably, it brings my heart such joy & pleasure to present to you “The 100 Most Powerful Black Women On Twitter” List! According to BlackWeb2.0, they used Klout and Twittergrader, two online reputation measurement tools, to compile a list of the 100 most powerful black women on Twitter. These women have gained a tremendous amount of influence on Twitter by amassing a large number of followers, retweets, and memberships on user lists.

Now I don’t know how the HELL KAT STACKS got on this list, but the rest of these women are PHENOMENAL! They omitted quite a few I can think of off the top of my head. But for the most part, I follow MOST of these ladies myself, and I’m proud to be able to call many of them Friend.

Mary J. Blige Signs Starshell.

Mary J. Blige

MARY J. Blige is trying to turn Starshell into a star. Blige took the younger singer, signed to Blige’s Matriarch Records, to several downtown clubs the other night, starting at SL, where Blige told the crowd she had a “special treat” before playing Starshell’s new song, “Superluva.” Blige then took the mike and performed her hits “All I Need” and “Real Love.” Next, the crew headed to 1Oak, where Blige joined DJ Jus Ske in the DJ booth and introduced Starshell and her tune to the crowd.

Lise Price, 46, at her flagship store in Harlem.

For Lisa Price, it was a bad time to get sick. Her fledgling skin- and hair-care business, Carol’s Daughter, was preparing for a surge in Valentine’s Day sales. But instead of ramping up, everything came to a halt while Price was in bed with the flu for two weeks. That’s when she realized that her hands-on management style was a problem.

“I never let anyone else make the products because I didn’t want them to get my recipes,” says Price. “But I realized that I couldn’t work like this anymore. I had to let go.”

Price had started cooking up fragrances and lotions in her Brooklyn kitchen in the early ’90s. She wanted something unique, not something that made her smell “like the department store shelf. I found books that gave the basic guidelines for balancing volatile notes with grounding notes,” she says. “I tried different ingredients, and I wrote them down as I worked so if I got a recipe right, I could reproduce it.”

It was Price’s mother, Carol, who urged her to turn her hobby into a business. Price took her Body Butter moisturizer and fragrance oils to a church flea market and sold everything. For the next nine years, her apartment was packed with jars, labels, baskets, and helpers.

By day, Price worked as a writer’s assistant on The Cosby Show. By night, she created new products. Price’s husband, Gordon, helped out at street markets and fairs; her cousin Michael handled logistics and customer service.

Price, who left TV in 1996, underestimated how fast the word would spread. When Essence magazine told her story, she returned from the hospital after the birth of her second son, Ennis, to find her voice mail overflowing. “My mailing list went from 2,000 to 5,000 in two days.”

“The changes weren’t easy,” Price says. “But my mom always said, ‘You can’t block the blessing. You have to figure out how to manage it.’ ”

Price opened her first store, in the Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn, in 1999. Three years later, she finally moved production out of her kitchen and into a warehouse. But while she kept coming up with new products-Almond Cookie Shea Soufflé moisturizer, Jamaican Punch Sea Salt Scrub, Black Vanilla hair conditioner—she struggled to keep up with the bills and payroll. She needed more expertise than her family could provide. “This was as much as I could do without capital,” says Price. “But who wouldn’t be afraid? You meet people interested in investing, but many don’t have your best interests at heart.”

Steve Stoute, a well-known marketer, was different. “He understood what I had done,” says Price, and he offered to invest in the company.

Stoute brought professional advice and connections—endorsements from Mary J Blige, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Will Smith. But Price worried about working with people who weren’t family. “I felt like I couldn’t make mistakes because it wasn’t my cousin now—it was someone who didn’t know me. It took a lot of faith to let go.”

That faith paid off when Stoute brokered deals that placed Carol’s Daughter in Dillard’s, Sephora, and Macy’s and on HSN, the home-shopping channel. The company is now a multimillion-dollar business, with seven stores and 85 employees.

“I want Carol’s Daughter to accomplish what Madam C. J. Walker wasn’t able to do,” says Price. “We know she started a beauty company, she was the first woman millionaire, and she happened to be African American. But you can’t buy any of her products today. Forty years from now, I want people to be able to purchase Carol’s Daughter Peppermint Foot Lotion. That’s my big dream.”

BEST Performances Of The NIGHT ….. It’s A FIVE WAY TIE!

I liked a LOT of what I saw at last nights Grammy’s. Spectacular performances, some … not so much! At any rate, if I had to choose, here are the top FIVE which stood out to me.

Best Performance Of The Night- Hands Down- Was ….. PINK!
She surprised me, She shocked me, She entertained me. Pink pulled off the unexpected & captured my attention. What poise & stamina it must have taken to perform suspended in mid air; allowing yourself to be spun dizzy while STILL singing on key. Pink, you did the damn thing. I know a whole lotta chicks standing still who sound like a strangled alley cat. Kudos to you Pink, you made me a believer!

The Black Eyed Peas stand out to me because their style is fresh & innovative. They are NOT afraid to push the envelope and bring that Brand New while expressing individuality. They represent the REAL Hip-Hop.

I heard this was Bon Jovi’s FIRST Grammy Performance. BLASPHEMY! It was great to see these fellas perform. Took me back to my JHS days. Clean Rockers, gotta love it!

Putting Mary J. Blige & Andrea Bocelli together for this joint to raise money for Haiti Relief Efforts was BRILLIANCE. I love watching Mary at this stage in her career because she exemplifies GROWTH & PERSEVERANCE! Who has gone harder than Mary down through the years? Don’t hurt your brain! lol.

And finally, THIS performance with Li’l Wayne, Eminem & Drake. Drake, I can do without. He’s a good kid, but I’m too grown to be swoonin’ over him. Eminem was great to see, however, he didn’t look too well. Very gaunt in the face. LI’L WAYNE, like PINK, has made me a believer. Wayne came out clean & crisp, and seemingly sober. I enjoyed him. He had total control over the crowd like a Rock Star. He too has shown growth & I’m now looking for MORE from Wayne.
