To me I always thought it was a sign that your career is going down when you start taking very sensitive topics and tragedies and start making jokes out of them just so the world can comment on it. Dane Cook is the BLOK head that made that comment. On July 26 Cook was on stage in LA and being to talk about “Dark Knight Rises”
“So I heard that the guy came into the theater about 25 minutes into the movie … And I don’t know if you’ve seen the movie, but the movie is pretty much a piece of crap … yeah, spoiler alert.”
Cook continued … “I know that if none of that would have happened, pretty sure that somebody in that theater, about 25 minutes in, realizing it was a piece of crap, was probably like ‘ugh f*cking shoot me.’
A few people laughed (shame on them) some people groaned but bottom line Cook was way out of line and it was much to soon for that. Do you here any Columbine jokes? No you don’t and you shouldn’t, certain things just are not meant to be made into jokes.
I wonder if one of those victims was Dane’s wife/girlfriend or family member would he still make the same joke?
Updated: 7/28 Cook apologized for his comments calling it ” A bad judgement call”
Again bad judgement call because people made a big deal out of it or was he really sorry? My bet is he would have never said anything if people didn’t react the way they did.
